With our technology we want to provide a state of the art service, where you can securely and reliably scan all your files. For this purpose we convert files into graphical representations, analyse them holistically, and recognize from these images if there is something in them that should not be there.

Inspired By Human Medicine
Malware.AI has developed a new and innovative method for detecting malware. For this we have been inspired by methods that are also used in human medicine. The development of self-learning algorithms is well advanced everywhere where the analysis of images is concerned, be it x-rays, photos or video sequences. Deep learning systems are successfully used in radiology, ophthalmology and dermatology, among others. Deep neural networks are used to reliably detect lung diseases in computer tomography, breast cancer cells in histological sectional images or diabetic retinal changes, for example.
It is precisely this procedure that we make use of. For this purpose we convert files into graphical representations, analyse them holistically, and recognize from these images if there is something in them that should not be there.
In opposite to human medicine, the conversion of digital binary information to make them usable for neural networks is a heavy problem. Not only different file-types, but also different properties and attributes makes the problem even harder to solve.
We cannot say what kind of virus it is, whether it is ransomware, Trojan or other, but we know exactly whether a virus is contained or not.
Our Technology
How it Works
We use a multi-tier architecture to provide a broad protection against any type of malware.
After uploading a file, we check it against actual running malware campaigns to identify if you are a random target of a trending campaign or a victim of a specialized targeted attack.
If the file is unknown, we further split it into separate but correlating subsets of subfiles, convert them into images and classify them using our Machine Learning stack against unusual patterns.
Our machine learning stack then provides a maliciousness score, allowing us to suggest measures to you, on how you could proceed with the file. For example, instantly deleting the file in case of a malware catch, download a cleaned preview of the file we provide to you or just continue if no virus is detected.

Malware Campaigns
- We check each upload against actual running malware campaigns using our Threat Intelligence Database.
Heuristic Analysis
- We execute static heuristic analysis methods to gain more information about the uploaded data.
Reduction
- We execute dimensional reduction on the raw uploaded file to extract additional holistic features.
- The static heuristic analysis results acts as an amplifier to the gained predictions.
Intelligence to the data
- The chunksets and holistic dimensional reduced features get truncated and predicted using our Deep Learning stack.

- Additionally, we separate the file into sets of multiple correlating chunks. Each chunkset will be analyzed as an individual.
- Based on the amplified results we calculate a final maliciousness score.
- We tell you, if your data contains malware and suggest how to proceed with the file.

Currently only PDF files can be analyzed. Office files are already being tested and will be released later this year.

If you would like to customize Malware.AI Browser Extension notifications, you can do so in Settings. To disable or remove Malware.AI Browser Extension altogether, open your browser extensions settings.

When installed and enabled, Malware.AI Browser Extension works automatically in the background. Malware.AI Browser Extension shows pop-up notifications when you download a file or scan a link.

Which browsers and operating systems are supported?
Currently we only support Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Outlook version 2010 or higher.
What is the Malware.AI Scanner?
The Malware.AI Scanner is an application you can use to scan suspicious PDF files. When the scanner detects a file you get a notification showing you which file is malicious, and you can decide whether you want to delete the file or not. (If you did not enable the auto delete flag in the preferences)
How do I install the Malware.AI Scanner?
To install the Malware.AI Scanner, simply download it as a .exe (Windows) / .app (MacOS) / .AppImage (Linux) from our website and extract it. After extraction, you can simply execute it.
How can I scan files?
Just drag and drop the files you want to scan into the application and wait for the analysis to finish. You will see a window pop up with the results and depending on your notification settings you will get a notification telling you that the results are ready.
